WEST END GROUP 2020
Our West End Group performs at a prestigious venue every year and have performed in the likes of The Royal Albert Hall, The O2 Indigo, Sadlers Well, Her Majesties Theatre to name a few! The 2020 Group will be performing at Shaftsbury Theatre on the 28/06/20. The audition is run as a class, similar to a mini workshop where students learn a short routine and then perform in smaller groups towards the end of the class. It is a fairly relaxed audition process and all existing group members will be involved in the class to make a friendly environment.
Upon a successful audition, classes are on a Saturday morning at Denmead Community Centre. This class is included in the 10% and unlimited discount schemes. Class times can fluctuate to up to 1hr 30m (still on Saturday mornings) and there is usually extended rehearsals in a larger venue nearer the show day. There are additional costs to cover costumes, enrolment fees and travel. As a rough idea of costs the 2019 group had an invoice of £93 split between two terms as instalments and must sell at least 2 audience tickets per family. Our West End Groups also performed at local events.
ENGLAND SQUAD 2020
Students will need to prepare a 1 minute solo of a genre of your choice and should bring music playable via an aux lead (ie on an iPod). It is optional, but advised, to wear a solo costume. The main purpose of this group is to represent the school and country in international and national competitions. For the next academic year SAA have been invited to compete for a fifth year in the IDF World Championships held in Barcelona in May 2020. Genres available to compete in include Tap, Modern, Ballet, Contemporary, Commercial and Jazz, in groups and with solos and duets. Last year our squad also competed in festivals and performed at local events. We have similar events in the pipeline for our new 2019/20 squad as well as the major World Championships.
Upon a successful audition, students must be able to commit to the weekly Friday and Saturday classes, take all technique classes and be available for adhoc additional rehearsals. If you would like more information about the financials, please do not hesitate to get in contact.
FESTIVAL AUDITIONS 2019/20
Students will participate in a technique class looking for confidence, flexibility, maturity and performance skills. Students will then perform a short dance.
Upon successful audition, students will require a shared private class once a week.
