SAA are extremely proud to of made the finals of the 'Dance School Of The Year Awards 2017' hosted by Anne Walker MBE
After putting together a rather bulky application for these awards back in March, SAA are thrilled to be announced as a finalist for this UK-wide competition. Judges included Angela Rippon CBE, Francesca Filpi and Paul Haigney. We had to provide evidence for our schools achievements, staff qualifications and testimonials from both students and parents. It was a real insight and great opportunity to reflect on just a handful of the amazing opportunities we are able to facilitate and provide for our students, alongside the day to day running of the school.
Thank you to my amazing team, Charlotte, Ali, Jess, Sophie, Lloyd, Graham and Barbara who have worked so hard to make this achievable. We couldn't do it without the parents support and commitment and my fantastic students who work so hard to get great results!
Anne Walker MBE and founder of International Dance Supplies explains the ethos behind these awards on her website...
“Dance teachers should be applauded and celebrated. So much more than just a teacher – they are almost a substitute parent to many of their students as they are role models, mentors and social workers, offering support, stability and a disciplined approach to life. They instil a love of dance, music and theatre which will hopefully turn many students into tomorrow’s theatre-goers if not performers or teachers.
Fellow dance teachers have supported me in my career over many years and now I hope, through these Awards, we can all celebrate the life-long passion for dance and the achievements of theatre dance teachers everywhere.”
