Christmas Fayre and American Supper Evening

In aid of raising money for the West End and Showcase
parents expenditure, Including travel and costumesWe are holding Christmas Fayre at Denmead Community centre on the 10th December 1pm to 4pm and an American supper evening with disco and auction for SAA families and friends at Denmead church hall 7:30pm to 11pm.
We understand the West End and Showcase costumes and fees soon add up and stop some pupils from being able to take part in such events, so to be able to continue to offer this to everyone we have come up with an idea of fundraising throughout the year to try and reduce these costs for the parents.
We had a meeting on Friday to discuss the first event in December and have come up with the following we need help with, if you are able to help with any of the following then please fill in the form below and hand any items into Katrina at dancing asap.
The American supper evening tickets will be on sale at £2.50 a child and £4.50 an adult and available from Sian Munday Hall or Katrina, please fill in the form to book your tickets.
Please try and support us with both events as remember it will benefit every parent and child. Please spread the word to all family and friends and around schools. The evening will be a great way to celebrate what we have achieved during the day and would love as many SAA families and friends to try and come.

• Jars filled with sweets or bits and decorated
• Bottles of wine
• Raffle prizes
• Auction gifts (if you can get anything from your workplace that would be great!)Please remember the more you can donate the money we can raise.

The Arts Awards

The Arts Awards will be coming to Southern Arts after half term. We will be offering the awards in all three levels, bronze, silver and gold.

The awards are currently open to ages 11 to 25 as they are equivalent to a GCSE and A level.

These awards are offered in some schools as part of the school curriculum in dance or performing arts.

If you are interested in gaining another GCSE or A level qualification out of school then you must be available on a Tuesday or Wednesday after school/college, if you have a dance class on one of these evenings please let Katie know the time of your class.

As part of the course students will be involved in dance workshops and theatre trips, funding will be given towards this. At the end of the course there will be a moderation where an external examiner will come in and talk to the students and mark all the work.

All classes will be £5.00 payable weekly and run between 90 minutes to 2 hours.

There are limited spaces, the cut off date for registration is 17th October, should you require further information please contact Katrina Excell for a booklet and registration form.

Late Payment Information & Class Discounts

Invoices are for half a term, anywhere between 5 and 7 weeks.
Invoices unpaid 4 weeks from the date of the invoices will incur a 10% administrative recovery charge, which will show on their next invoice.

New Term 2011/2012

Hi,

I hope you all had a great summer and are ready to start back at Southern Arts.
We had great feed-back from the show and raised £400 for the Rowans Hospice, well done to everyone who was involved.
We have some new classes this year and also some great workshops coming up in October and November with Tap Attack and Pineapple Studios. The new timetable is now on the website for 2011/2012.
If you have a birthday in October/November or January please contact me as you may be in a different class.
We are starting an evening of compettion classes for the All England Dance Competitions now on Tuesday evenings, if you are interested please let me know as I have limited places left.
We start back the week of the 5th September. See you there!

SAA Showcase 2011 Information Download

Dress Rehearsal

Date: Thursday 21^st July

Venue: Ferneham hall, Fareham

Time: Arrive from 3:45pm-4:00pm. Expected finish 8:45pm, young children may leave by 6:30pm

Uniform: All pupils MUST arrive in uniform,

SAA hoodie, leotard, jacket or T-shirt and black jazz pants.

Please try and arrive with tidy hair as we will be taking the school photo.

Show Day

Date: Saturday 23^rd July

Venue: Ferneham Hall, Fareham

Time: Arrive between 9:30am and 10am ready to start a full tech run at 10:30am.

Hair & Makeup

Costs £1.50, payable on the day if you would like your hair and make up done for you.

All performers need to have their hair gelled back in a high bun unless told otherwise.

If you have make up at home please arrive with full stage make up already done.

Lunch

You may take your children for lunch between 12:45pm and 2:15pm pm and dinner between 5:00pm and 6:45pm.

All other times all performers must stay in the changing rooms.

Children MUST be signed in and out at all times by a guardian.

All children under 5 MUST be accompanied by an adult throughout the day.

Show Times

The first show is 3:00pm and the evening show at 7:30pm.

You can collect your child from the stage door or changing rooms at 9:30pm.

All small children may go home after they have performed in the evening show or sit with their parents as long as the adult in charge knows and the child has been signed out of the changing room.

Please bring food and drink for the day and make sure you have all your shoes, socks, tights and costumes.

SAA To Perform at Denmead Junior School and Oaklands Catholic School

I am pleased to announce that this Summer, Southern Arts Academy (SAA), will be performing at Denmead Junior school and St Peters Catholic Primary School Summer Fayres

Saturday 11th June – Denmead performance will begin at 2:30pm
Saturday 25th June – St Peter’s performance will begin at 2:30
note: this will be held at Oakland’s School
Those performing should meet at both venues at 2:00pm
